The Ijaw Egbema tribe, also known as the Egbema Kingdom, lives in the Delta and the Edo States. As a result of the creation of Nigerian states, the Kingdom is divided politically into two states.
Despite their location on the western outskirts of Ijawland, the Egbema have a strong Ijaw cultural identity. The Kingdom may be traced back centuries to multiple migrations from the Ijaw heartland.
The Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom is the overlord of the Egbema tribe. The Egbema-Isenabiri are nine founding towns (clans) that make up the Kingdom.
