UdeM Exemption Scholarship for International Students
The Université de Montréal introduces a new scholarship program for exemption from additional tuition fees for international undergraduate and postgraduate students. The goal of this new program is to help the best talent from around the world attend one of the finest francophone research universities in the world. In turn, these international students will help fulfill our educational mission by enriching the cultural diversity of the Université de Montréal community.
About School
The University of Montreal is a French-language public research university in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The institution comprises thirteen faculties, more than sixty departments, and two affiliated schools: the Polytechnique Montréal (School of Engineering; formerly the École Polytechnique de Montréal) and HEC Montréal (School of Business). It offers more than 650 undergraduate programs and graduate programs, including 71 doctoral programs
The school is co-educational and has 34,335 undergraduate and 11,925 post-graduate students (excluding affiliated schools). Alumni and former students reside across Canada and around the world, with notable alumni serving as government officials, academics, and business leaders.

Note: An excellent academic record is the only evaluation criterion to determine the value of the scholarship award to be awarded to each scholar. This assessment is made based on the transcripts provided during the admission application.
To be Eligible
Admission to graduate studies (2nd cycle)
In general, admission to graduate programs at the microprograms, DESS and Master’s level require a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Admission to graduate studies (3rd cycle)
Also, please be informed that admission to graduate programs at the Ph.D. level, requires a Master’s degree or equivalent.

How to Apply
Applicants can read and follow the steps below for easy Application. The deadline for application is on the 1st of February 2023
- To begin your application and admissions process on a good start, it is advisable to first explore “Compass”, an interactive checklist that has been written to guide you through the required steps on how to apply.
- Before Submitting the application form, make sure you respect the application deadlines and check the admissions requirements for the study programs of your interest.
- Follow up on your file and receive an offer of admission
- A few days after submitting your admissions application, you will receive your access codes for the “Student Centre.” This is the platform where you can monitor your application and receive your offer of the acceptance letter.
- Accept the offer of admission to start the evaluation.
- You don’t have to apply for a UdeM Exemption Scholarship. New candidates’ files will be evaluated to determine their eligibility and the amount of their exemption scholarship.
- Receive the notice of award with the amount
- After receiving your admission offer, the Université de Montréal will promptly inform you, by email, of the amount of the scholarship to which you are entitled.
- It is advisable to print and keep this document in a safe place are it will be useful in the future for reference.
