List of Universities in Yemen
More than 20% of Yemen’s population is currently enrolled in higher education, thanks in large part to the government’s commitment to the pursuit of education.
There are more than 14 religious universities, 5 private universities, and 7 state universities. There are currently about 3500 international students, and more than 80% of them are enrolled in private and religious universities.
Despite their current involvement, the government still has a long way to go in the area of education. Poor learning tools and equipment, a high percentage of professor absenteeism, inadequate systematic assessment of the curricula, a lack of libraries, laboratories, and computers for medical and engineering students are all problems limiting Yemen’s ability to advance intellectually. Another significant problem is the graduate unemployment rate.
