The Abayon ethnic group is found in southern Nigeria, namely in Cross River State.
Cross River State’s Abayon people are a minority in the state.
As a result, they do not hold any significant positions in the state. The Abayon tribe shares several traits with other tribes in Cross Rivers.
Beautiful waterfalls and huge mountains can be found there. Farming is the main source of income for the Abayon tribe.
The Abayon tribe has a vast range of meals, from meats to soups, that can be served in a variety of ways.
Porridge made from yam, cocoyam, rice, or plantain is one of the Abayon foods. Ekpan nkuwko is a unique Abayon porridge meal prepared with cocoyam, water yam, or a combination of both (Ekpan rikukwo is a very popular dish in Cross River State).
Abayon women could also produce semi-solid yam and cocoyam pastes to be eaten via ball-swallowing with various soups, such as their famous edikan-ikon soup and afan soup.
