Barcelona Supercomputing Center-CNS Undergraduate Student Research Position in Spain
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center CNS Undergraduate Student Research Position is awarding position for undergraduate students to pursue research. The student will join a dynamic research group within the Life Sciences department, work in a sophisticated HPC environment, and will have access to systems and computational infrastructures.
The project aims at testing the genetic interactome (epistasis) behind the disease, using type 2 diabetes as a pilot pathology. The successful candidate will complete a Master’s Thesis.
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 500 staff from 44 countries.
Scholarship Description

- Study Subject: The Computational Genomics group, led by ICREA professor David Torrents, is looking for a motivated student to work in the development and application of bioinformatics tools in order to answer biomedical questions in the context of the risk of disease associated with interactions between genomic variants, using large genome-phenome public datasets. The project aims at testing the genetic interactome (epistasis) behind the disease, using type 2 diabetes as a pilot pathology. The successful candidate will complete a Master’s Thesis.

Priority will be given to highly motivated and proactive candidates with a biology-related background and with the ambition to develop their careers in the field of computational genomics and biomedicine. - Scholarship Award:
