How to write a good application letter for DSS/SSS Recruitment

Have you been searching for the best way or preferably, the right way to write a catchy successful letter to DSS/SSS for recruitment, then you are on the right page.

This post shows how to lay out a DSS (SSS) application letter. DSS recruitment is currently suspended: the DSS career page states that “All recruitment activities are currently suspended” (dss.gov.ng/career, checked October 2026). When the DSS does recruit, its official FAQ says applicants “submit a hand-written application alongside relevant documents to DSS Commands and formations domiciled in their States of origin” (dss.gov.ng/faq). Keep this format ready, but don’t send it anywhere until the DSS announces an exercise on its own website.

DSS APPLICATION LETTER FORMAT

Here is the format you need for the letter, just like the normal letter writing we were thought and how formal this letter is, we have to be very careful on the addresses, punctuations, use of words and choice of words.

so we start with these few guidelines on how to write the letter

Your address by the top right as usual,

then the address of the DSS Command in your state of origin on the next line, on the left, as in the sample below. The DSS FAQ says that, when it recruits, applicants “submit a hand-written application alongside relevant documents to DSS Commands and formations domiciled in their States of origin” (dss.gov.ng/faq), so the letter goes to that State Command, not to the national headquarters. Use the Command address the DSS gives when it announces an exercise.
