Ogba–Egbema–Ndoni (sometimes spelled Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni) is a Rivers State Local Government Area (Old Ahoada LGA) in Nigeria’s Rivers West Senatorial District, with Omoku as its capital.
According to the 2006 Census, it is bordered by Imo, Delta, Bayelsa, Abia, and Akwa Ibom states, as well as Rivers State’s Ahoada West, Ahoada East, and Emohua Local Government Areas.
It is predominantly upland and has seen the most upstream oil and gas exploration/exploitation activity in the state s ince the early 1960s, with roughly 12 mining/producing fields managed by Agip, Total, and Shell/NPDC, as well as another reserve/untapped fields.
The Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area is called after the three Igbo sub-groups that live in this territory: the Ogba, Egbemas, whose brothers also live in Ohaji/Egbema in Imo State, and the Ndoni, who have brothers in Ukwuani in Delta State and Ogbaru in Anambra State.
The LGA is Rivers State’s top oil and gas producer.
