The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is for high-achieving international students who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in the United States and are devoted to positive civic and social change.
It is aimed at students who plan to return home to assist underserved and under-resourced areas in their own nation.
International students from any country who are not US citizens, US permanent residents, or dual citizens of the US and another country are eligible for the scholarships.
Value/inclusions/duration of the scholarship: The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition, room, and board).
Eligibility:
Preference will be given to:
International students who have overcome significant difficulties and hardships, as well as pupils from varied and underrepresented cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
A least 3.8 GPA equivalent (or being in the top 10% of the graduating class) is necessary for 9th-12th grades.
A demonstrated dedication to volunteerism, community service, and improving the needs of people in their own country.
Students who have at least one of the following: 95+ TOEFL iBT (all subscores must be 20 or higher); paper-based TOEFL subscores of 24+ (taken after May 31, 2017); 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores must be 6.0 or higher); 33 minimum SAT Reading Subscore; 29 minimum ACT English; 65 minimum PTE; or 120+ Duolingo
Students who are still in high school or secondary school will graduate by June 2022.
Important: IB students should plan to complete the entire IB diploma, which includes at least three HL courses. Students enrolling in the British A-Levels system must finish at least three A levels and 13 years of study by August 2022.
You are ineligible to apply if you match the following criteria:
– You are a citizen of the United States, a permanent resident of the United States, or a dual citizen of the United States and another nation.
— You are enrolled or have already started any post-secondary education in your home country or the United States.
– You graduated from high school before the year 2020
Application instructions: Applications are currently closed.
You must submit the AU EGLS application, the Common or Coalition Application, and the international admissions procedure by December 15, 2021 (priority deadline) or January 15, 2022, at the latest, to be considered for the Scholarship. For the autumn semester (August) of 2022, AU EGLS applicants must submit a Regular Decision application.
