About the PEO International Peace Scholarship
Education, according to PEO members, is important to global peace and understanding. Although the scholarship is designed to cover all academic and personal expenses, it is offered based on demonstrated financial need.
The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund assists women from outside the United States and Canada who are pursuing advanced degrees at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada, with the expectation that students will return to their home countries and use their education to make a positive impact and foster global peace.
A candidate must have completed a full year of study, be enrolled, and remain in the United States for the whole school year to be eligible for her first scholarship.
Doctoral students who are applying for the first time must have completed their coursework and are exclusively working on their dissertations.
A student who is the U.S. or Canadian citizen or permanent resident is not eligible. Note that a student who is merely residing for tax purposes is permissible.
Online courses, research, internships, and practical training that are not coupled with coursework are not eligible for scholarships.
March 1, 2022: Last day for applicants already enrolled in the graduate program and school for which their scholarship is meant to submit completed application documents.
April 1, 2022: Last day for applicants who have not yet enrolled in the graduate program or school for whom the award is meant to submit completed application documents.
For applicants who will be attending Cottey College, this is the last day to submit completed application materials.
Offered Annually: Yes
A student may be eligible for up to $12,500 in financial aid. Individual demands may necessitate a reduction in the amount of money provided.
Although the scholarship is based on financial need, it is not intended to pay all academic or personal expenses. At the time of application, the applicant must confirm additional financial resources sufficient to cover her anticipated expenses. Additional resources may include personal and family money, tuition waivers, work scholarships, teaching assistantships, study grants, and other scholarships.
The winners will be announced in May. The PEO International scholarship will be paid out in two installments, the first in August and the second in December.
