  1. Australia Award Scholarship

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) now known as Australia Award Scholarship provide ways for people from developing countries, particularly those countries located in the Indo-Pacific region, to participate in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities as well as Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

The scholarship benefits generally are full tuition fees, return air travel, establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses (CLE), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), Introductory Academic Program (IAP), Pre-course English (PCE) fees, etc. There are more benefits on the official website.

The scholarships are offered through the period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program (undergraduate/postgraduate) specified by the Australian higher education institution, as well as any form of preparatory training.

To be Eligible

To be eligible to receive the Scholarship, pls do note the following criteria

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age on 1 February of the year of commencing the scholarship;
  • Applicants must be a citizen of one of the participating countries (as listed on the Australia Awards website) and be residing in and applying for the scholarship from their country of citizenship;
  • Applicants must not be a citizen of Australia, but hold permanent residency in Australia or be applying for a visa to live in Australia permanently;
  • Applicants must not be married to, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who holds, or is eligible to hold, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency, at any time during the application, selection, or mobilization phases (note: residents of Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau with New Zealand citizenship are eligible but must apply for a Student visa [subclass 500]);
  • Applicants must not be a currently serving military personnel
  • Applicants must not have received a long-term Australia Award previously unless they have resided outside of Australia for twice the length of the total time that they were in Australia (for example, a previous awardee who has been on an Australia Awards Scholarship in Australia for four years will not be eligible to apply for another Australia Awards Scholarship until they have resided outside Australia for eight years)
  • Applicants must not hold convictions of criminal activities (including in their home country) including those relating to Child Protection and PSEAH
  • All recipients under the Pacific Secondary School Scholarship Program (PSP) who have completed their secondary school education in Australia in the year prior are eligible to apply for a long-term Australia Award
  • Applicants must have satisfied any specific criteria established by the Program Area or the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship (e.g. having worked a certain number of years in an appropriate sector)
  • Applicants must be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the institution at which the award is to be undertaken (this may mean that Program Areas will need to withdraw an award offer if the recipient cannot achieve the institution’s admission requirements. This may not be known until Program Areas request a placement at selected institutions);
  • Applicants must be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs to hold a Student Visa. This may mean that the Program Area will need to withdraw an award offer if the recipient cannot satisfy the visa requirements;
  • Applicants must not be applying for a scholarship for a course of study at an academic level lower than already achieved (e.g. be applying for a Master’s scholarship when they already hold a Ph.D.)
  • Applicants must inform the Program Area of any connection or relationship to staff employed at Program Areas (including locally engaged staff at post) or with managing contractors so that the application may be properly and transparently managed. thank

Applicants should get information on the open and close dates for their country, and select the country of citizenship/residency from the list of participating countries for specific information on eligibility, priority areas, and how to apply. Applications can be done online or by mail (if unable to apply online). The official deadline date is 29 April 2022 except for Tonga which is yet to be announced.

  1. Australia Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships

The Research Training Program (RTP) provides grants on an annual basis to higher education providers (HEPs) to support both home and overseas students accepting Research Doctorate and Research Masters’s degrees, known as higher degrees by research (HDRs).  On the 31st of December 2016, the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) ceased to exist and was replaced by the Research Training Program (RTP) on 1 January 2017 till date.

The Host institutions recognized by this program are the participating Universities in Australia. Also, the deadline for this scholarship has not been released but it is between April- October every year.

Scholarship Benefits/ Duration of Benefits

Under the administration of RTP, every University provides one or more of the following support to an RTP Scholarship recipient:

  • An RTP Fees Offset pays for the tuition fees of a higher degree by a research (HDR) student that would otherwise have been paid by the student. This requires that a university fully offset the tuition fees applicable to a student. This is not a stipend.
  • An RTP Stipend to assist students with their living costs while taking on a higher degree by research.
  • RTP Allowances to assist students with ancillary costs of a higher degree by research (HDR). This includes relocation costs to undertake an HDR, HDR thesis printing and academic publication costs, and health cover costs for recipients and their dependents.

Kindly NOTE: RTP scholarships are available for a maximum period of two years for a research master’s OR a minimum of three years, up to a maximum of four years (at the discretion of the HEP) for a research doctorate degree.

To be Eligible

For any applicants to be eligible for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, or RTP Allowance, a student must be a home student or an overseas student enrolled in an accredited HDR course of study at an Australian HEP. How to Apply

To apply for RTP Scholarships, applications need to be made directly to participating universities. Each university has its own application, selection criteria, and process, please see your chosen university directly to discuss how to apply for the RTP scheme in your University. The deadline varies per university but is around April-October every year.

  1. University of Sydney International Scholarship

The University of Sydney International Scholarship which is sponsored by the University of Sydney provides an annual scholarship to extraordinary international postgraduate students who wish to study for a master’s research or Ph.D. in Australia.

The scholarship benefits assist the applicant’s tuition fee as well as living costs. As of the last year 2021, the scholarship award was valued at $35,629 per annum. The scholarship opportunity is currently open till 30th September 2022 for interested International students at the University of Sydney.

To be Eligible

To be eligible for the scholarship program, applicants must;

  • Be a commencing or enrolled international student
  • Have an outstanding record of academic achievement and research potential
  • Have an unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled in a master’s by research or Ph.D. at the University of Sydney.

How to Apply

Applying students should select the check box on the official website to be considered for research scholarships when completing the admission application for your postgraduate research degree. A separate application is not required. Applications are open all year round, with deadlines. For research periods 1 and 2, 2023, the deadline is 30 September 2022 for international students.

  1. Macquarie Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships

The Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship is awarded to recognized academic excellence for international students. This highly competitive scholarship is based on academic merit and awarded to future students. It provides a partial tuition fee scholarship for outstanding students to study for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Macquarie University.

The partial tuition fee scholarship amount is varied up to AUD$10,000 which is not renewable.

Please Note: The scholarships do not provide financial support for all others like some scholarships, some of the costs they don’t provide are; living allowance, cost of visa application, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), airfares, accommodation, conferences, or other costs associated with the study.

To be Eligible

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the  Macquarie Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships:

  • Applicants must meet the academic and English requirements for a Macquarie University Bachelor or Postgraduate Coursework Degree.
  • Applicants must achieve a minimum WAM equivalent of 65 for Postgraduate applications; or a minimum ATAR equivalent of 85 for Undergraduate applications.
  • Applicants must have been accepted into a Macquarie University Bachelor or Postgraduate Coursework Degree commencing in 2022.

  • Applicants must complete an online course application form via the official website Once your course application has been processed, you will receive a Macquarie University Student Number which is compulsory to submit the online scholarship application form.

  1. Griffith Remarkable Scholarship

The Griffith Remarkable Scholarship gives international students an opportunity to take on an undergraduate or graduate degree program offered at Griffith University, Australia which is known as one of the best universities in Australia. This opportunity is open to all international students aside from citizens of Australia and New Zealand.

The benefit of the Griffith Remarkable Scholarship is a 50% tuition fee waiver that will be deducted from undergraduate or postgraduate program tuition fees throughout the duration of the program.

To be eligible for the Griffith Remarkable Scholarship, applicants must

  • Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand

  1. University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships

The University of Melbourne offers generous scholarship opportunities to recognize excellent performance and support graduate researchers all over the world.  University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships was established and sponsored by the University of Melbourne, this scholarship is available to excellence achieving home and international students taking on a Master by research degree or Doctoral degree in any field offered at the University.

Scholarship Benefits/ Duration of benefits

The scholarship award target about 600 candidates and other benefits are listed below

  • Full tuition fee offset for about two years for students taking on a master by Research degree or up to four years for students undertaking a doctoral degree
  • Living allowance of $32,400 per year (2022  full-time study rate) for up to two years for students taking on a master by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for students undertaking a doctoral degree.
  • Relocation grant of about $2000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3000 for students moving from outside Australia down to the University.

  1. Adelaide Global Academic Excellence Scholarships for International Students

The University of Adelaide is committed to providing educational opportunities for international students. University of Adelaide Global Academic Excellence Scholarships for International Students is a highly competitive award that rewards international students taking on undergraduate or postgraduate programs who have received excellent academic merit in their previous studies.

Two students with the highest score above an ATAR of 98 or a GPA of 6.8 in each faculty will be awarded a scholarship of 50% reduction in the tuition fee. This scholarship is open to all interested students all over the world except the citizens of Australia and New Zealand.

To be Eligible

The scholarship opportunity is available to candidates who are;

  • Available for students commencing in the period between 2021-2025;
  • Available for commencing direct-entry international undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students, including those who are required to undertake a Pre-Enrolment English Program (PEP) prior to their degree commencement;

There is no need to apply separately for the 2021-2025 Adelaide Global Academic Excellence Scholarship, students who meet the eligibility criteria automatically get awarded the scholarship. No separate application form is to be filled out.

  1. Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) International Scholarships at the University of Flinders

The Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Scholarships (International) are specifically dedicated to supporting international students who wish to take up a research higher degree at Flinders University full-time. The Scholarship is awarded to international students on the basis of academic merit, academic research training, and research indicators and performance.

The scholarship award covers a full tuition fee, a living allowance of about $28,594 (as of 2021), and overseas health care fees as well an establishment allowance of up to $1,485 to help with airfares and relocation fees. The benefit is intact for up to three (3) years for a Research Doctorate degree and up to two (2) years for a Research Master’s degree.

To be Eligible

  • Applicants must be a citizen of any overseas country excluding Australia and New Zealand
  • Applicants must satisfy the University’s academic entry requirements for a Masters’s degree by research or Doctorate by research as stated on the official website.
  • Applicants must have successfully completed at least the equivalent of an Australian First Class Hons degree (this is a four-year degree with a major research project in the final year)
  • Applicants must have met the English proficiency levels requirements set by Flinders University for international students at the time of application. Students who take English as a foreign language will need to provide evidence of their English language competence.
  • Applicants must not hold an equivalent research higher degree qualification. Applications are only open to students starting a research higher degree in Australia for the first time.
  • Applicants must not be Australian citizens, Australian permanent resident status, or New Zealand, citizens.

  1. CDU Vice-Chancellor’s International High Achievers Scholarships

CDU Vice-Chancellor’s International High Achievers Scholarships (VCIHAS) is designed for talented and deserving students from all around the world who wish to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate program at Charles Darwin University, Australia. The scholarship awards a 25% or 50% tuition fee reduction for the total duration of the degree.

To be Eligible

Kindly Note;  the VCIHAS scholarships are very competitive and meeting the minimum eligibility standards as stated below does not guarantee that an applicant will be awarded a scholarship.

The eligibility requirements for the VCIHAS Scholarship are;

  • Applicant must apply to commence study in Semester 2, 2022

  1. University of New South Wales International Scholarships

UNSW provides a different range of Scholarships and Awards to support International undergraduate and postgraduate program degree students taking on the full-time study at UNSW.  The scholarships offered include; the International Scientia Coursework Scholarship and Australia’s Global University Award. The deadline for the scholarship opportunity is on the 31st of March 2022.

  • The International Scientia Coursework Scholarship

This scholarship is open to all interested international students as stated above to study an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the University

The International Scientia Coursework scholarship award a full tuition fee of $20,000 per annum which is deducted from the tuition fee for the minimum duration of the program.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be an international students taking on a full-time study at the UNSW Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree program (excluding PG online and UNSW Canberra) in Term 2, 2022.

Applicants will be assessed based on academic merit, leadership skills (school, workplace, or community), extra-curricular activities (sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience), and reasons for undertaking studies at UNSW.

To apply;

  • Students must have received an offer of admission to an eligible program for Term 2, 2022 on or before the 31st of March 2022.
  • Students must then provide evidence supporting the selection criteria in the online application.
  • Australia Global University

The Australia Global University scholarship award is worth $5,000- $10,000 for a duration of one year.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be an international students commencing a full-time study at the UNSW Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree program in Term 2, 2022.

To Apply;

Eligible students who have received an offer of admission to UNSW in Term 2, 2022 will be automatically considered for the Australia Global University scholarship. Students do not need to submit any specific scholarship application or additional supporting documentation to be considered.
