Undergraduate International Chancellor’s Scholarship

Rutgers University–Camden is offering a scholarship opportunity of up to $15,000 to all nonsponsored, international applicants who meet admission requirements and enroll full-time in the College of Arts and Sciences or the School of Business. All scholarships are contingent upon meeting Rutgers–Camden’s admission requirements.

Benefits

The scholarship will award $10,000 to scholars in two installments which means, scholars will receive $5,000 per semester. All Undergraduate International Chancellor’s Scholarships are renewable if the student maintains a 2.5 GPA at Rutgers–Camden.

To be Eligible

• Applicant must be a Nonsponsored, international F-1 visa student (not sponsored by a government agency but who self-pays)

Academic Documentation

Please follow the instructions included in the First-Year Applicants or Transfer Applicants section, in addition to the instructions provided below.

• Documents not in English must be accompanied by a translation verified by a language professor or professional translator and must arrive on the professional letterhead of the translator.
• When applying do not send the following credentials;
• Sport certificates
• Craft certificates
• Letters of recommendation
• Current Secondary/High School Students
• Students attending international education systems are required to self-report their courses, grades, grade-point averages, and class rank with Rutgers’ freestanding online form, the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR). Official documents are required for admitted students to enroll.

Transfer Applicants

Transfer students with less than 24 college credits must submit an official secondary/high school transcript with all courses and final grades or an official copy of their finishing certificate (e.g. O-Level, CXC, IGCSE, etc.). A high school transcript is recommended for transfer students with 24+ credits completed. A transcript from each college/university attended is also required. The admissions committee may request a high school transcript from an applicant who has more than 24 college credits completed.

Required Credentials for First-Year Applicants

You are a first-year (or freshman) applicant if:

• You are currently enrolled in high school, even if you’ve completed college credits while in high school, or
• You’ve graduated from high school and have never attended college, or
• You’ve been enrolled in college but will have completed fewer than 12 academic post-high school graduation college credits by the time you enroll at Rutgers.

Note: Current high school students who are also taking college courses during high school should apply as first-year applicants, regardless of the number of college credits earned while in high school.

Creating Your Rutgers Community ID

If this is your first time applying to Rutgers, you’ll need to create a community ID in order to begin your application. To create a Rutgers Community ID, provide your email address and create an 8-character password. You should create only one student account and submit just one application for the year you intend to enroll. If you created an account already, log in using the email address and 8-character password submitted previously.

Using Your Rutgers Community ID

If you need to make changes to the information submitted within your application, you can do so online from your Rutgers Community ID account. Features include:

Admitted students can accept their offer of admission and change their enrollment

Self-Service

• Change your account email (note this does not change the email address used to log into your application portal)
• Change or reset your password
• Update your mailing address
• Update your phone number
• Add a school to your application

Changes in legal name, and date of birth, as well as corrections to or the addition of a social security number, must be done with documentation (a government-issued photo ID for name change or date of birth update and a signed copy of a social security card to update or change social security number). Send a request to make these types of changes to our admissions offices. The student’s application portal can then be updated to request the needed documentation and such documentation can then be uploaded directly to the application portal.

Always include your full name and email address used on your Rutgers application when sending communications about your application.

Application Requirements

1. Online Application

• Complete the online application carefully as it cannot be changed after it has been submitted. You can apply to as many as three Rutgers schools on a single application and independent decisions will be made for each school to which you apply.
• You should submit only one application.
• Please note, older versions of Internet Explorer are not supported. We recommend using the latest versions of EDGE, Google Chrome, or Firefox for your browser when accessing our applications.

2. Extracurricular Activities

• Information about activities, employment, community service, and other personal experiences, though not required, can enhance your application.
• To be considered, information about extracurricular activities must be included in the space provided on the application.
• A list of extracurricular activities may not be submitted separately.

3. Essay

• Rutgers requires that first-year applicants provide a short, original essay. Essays must be included in the space provided on the application and submitted on the application form. Essays may not be submitted separately. Be sure to clear any formatting before pasting your essay into the online application. If you do not have clear formatting, the punctuation in your essay may change.
• Please address one of the following topics or submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
• Tell a story from your life, describing an experience that either demonstrates your character or helped to shape it.
• What interests or excites you? How does it shape who you are now or who you might become in the future?
• Describe a time when you had a positive impact on others. What were the challenges? What were the rewards?
• Has there been a time when an idea or belief of yours was questioned? How did you respond? What did you learn?
• What success have you achieved or obstacles have you faced? What advice would you give a sibling or friend going through a similar experience?
• Submit an essay on the topic of your choice.
• The essay is limited to 3,800 characters, including spaces.

4. Application Fee

A $70 non-refundable application fee is required. (Find fee information for the School of Health Professions.) Rutgers must receive the fee or a fee waiver before your application will be considered complete and ready for review.

5. GED Results

Students with a GED diploma/certificate are required to submit their official results. A transcript of any and all high school work attempted is required in addition to the GED results.

6. EOF Candidates

The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program is open to eligible New Jersey residents. Interested students should review the eligibility requirements and select the EOF option on the Rutgers application. Students selecting the EOF option and submitting an undergraduate admissions application will then continue to the EOF application.

7. English Proficiency Examination Requirements

An English proficiency test score is required for applicants whose secondary schooling has been outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the principal language, regardless of U.S. residency or citizenship.

8. Talent Assessment for Mason Gross School of the Arts

A portfolio, audition, or interview demonstrating artistic talent is required of all Mason Gross School of the Arts applicants. Mason Gross applicants will be emailed a supplemental application five business days after submitting the application for admission. 9. Letters of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation are not used for admissions consideration. The Rutgers application provides multiple opportunities for applicants to describe their accomplishments, activities, community service, and personal experiences. Students should be certain to complete all sections of the Rutgers application to describe themselves.

How to Apply

There is no separate application for the scholarship. Applicants who meet the criteria are automatically considered when they apply and are admitted for admission to Rutgers–Camden.

But to apply to Rutgers and if this is your first time applying to Rutgers and you do not currently have a NetID, you will need to create a Community ID in order to begin your application. Once you have created your Community ID, you will use it to return to your application or view your admission status in the application portal.

How Rutgers–Camden Makes Decisions

Applications are reviewed as they become complete with all required credentials. For early action applicants, a guaranteed decision should be made by February 15. For regular action applicants, a guaranteed decision should be done by March 31.

Decisions are based on a holistic review and with primary emphasis on an applicant’s academic promise as demonstrated by:

• Completion of required high school subjects
• Academic performance in high school or its equivalent:
• Strength of academic program (number/type of academic, honors, or advanced placement courses completed)
• Grades and grade trends
• Weighted grade-point average(s)
• Cumulative rank, when available
• SAT and/or ACT scores (test score submission optional for 2024 admission)
• English Proficiency Examination results, when required

They also consider the following factors:

• Your personal essay
• Your participation in programs designed for college preparation
• Your extracurricular activities, including community and volunteer work
• Your U.S. military service
• Your honors, awards, and other achievements
• Your employment history

The number of applicants Rutgers admits to each school/college is determined by the quality of the applicant pool and the space in the entering class. Please refer to our admissions profile of previously admitted students.

Maximum Consideration Program

The Rutgers University Maximum Admission Consideration program allows applicants to be automatically considered for another Rutgers choice if they are not admissible to the schools selected on their submitted application. This provides students the ability to attend Rutgers University in a different location and, in many cases, complete a program in their major of choice and graduate with a prestigious Rutgers University degree.
