School of Nursing, Uniport Rivers Admission 2023

For the 2022/2023 academic session, applications are solicited from appropriately qualified applicants for admission into the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Port Harcourt’s 12-month Post-Basic Diploma Program in Paediatric and Accident & Emergency Nursing.

Post-Basic Nursing Admission Requirements

a) To be considered for admission to the programs, applicants must have completed the SSCE with 5 credits in no more than two sittings. English language, mathematics, biology (not health science), physics, and chemistry are required. It is acceptable to use a combination of NECO and WAEC.

b) Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least one year of post-degree experience.

b) Having a B.NSc with a PGDE is a plus.
Candidates will be chosen based on their academic qualifications as well as their performance on the entrance exams and oral interviews.

How to Apply

Candidates who are interested and qualified should pay a non-refundable fee of N10,000:00 (ten thousand naira) to:

Present the teller to the School Bursar for an official receipt, and acquire an application form from the Administration Office of the School of either Post Basic Paediatric Nursing or Post Basic Accident & Emergency Nursing, as the case may be, on presentation of proof of payment.

On or by Friday, July 31, 2023, complete application forms with photocopies of all essential documents should be sent to the Coordinator of the Program of Choice (Paediatric or Accident & Emergency), School of Post Basic Nursing Studies.

Entrance Exam and Interview Date

The following is the schedule for the entrance examination at the SPBNS Auditorium:

Wednesday, August 26th, 2023 for Paediatric Nursing, Thursday, August 27th, 2023 for Accident and Emergency Nursing

TIME: Every day at 10:00 a.m

For the examination, applicants should bring writing materials. For the interview, applicants must provide original copies of their certifications as well as valid practicing licenses.

Applicants are responsible for making all necessary arrangements for lodging and food during their interviews.
