How Much Does Nigeria Custom Officer Earn?

  • You may be curious to know how much you are likely to get if you were lucky to be offered this job. Nigeria custom officers earn a minimum of #125,000 monthly, and it increases as your rank and stays increase
  • The controller-general of customs receives the highest salary and the deputy controller receives the second-highest, down to the assistant controller general.
  • Meanwhile, the customs inspector officer earns a minimum of #40000 per month.
  • Also, it was being made known that Nigeria customs officers’ positions aren’t stagnant. An officer in grade 7, will automatically move to grade 8.

Furthermore, note that aside from the salary, Nigeria customs officers also benefited from allowances.

However, many are just attracted to the job, because of the huge salary attached to it, and not because of the job itself, which is why it’s not all customs officers that are eligible for the allowances.  The allowances cover.

  • House rent
  • Food
  • Hospitality
  • Transport
  • Clothing
  • House maintenance

The rent allowance is given, because the government understands that most of these officers will have to leave their comfort place, to work wherever they are being transferred to.

However, aside from the salary and allowances, Nigeria customs officers also make money from illegal practices, like collecting money from those who want to import goods into the country. Nigeria’s government has put a strict ban on this.
