If you want to study in Germany on a scholarship, you should read this article. In this article, we will state everything you need to know about DAAD scholarships and how to apply.
The scholarships provide opportunities for foreign graduates from developing and newly industrialized countries to pursue a postgraduate or Master’s degree at a state or state-recognized German university, and in exceptional cases, a doctoral degree, as well as a university qualification (Master’s/Ph.D.) in Germany.
Please follow the steps below to apply for a DAAD Scholarship for Masters’s and Ph.D. programs in Germany in 2023:
• Personal CV with the current date (please use the sample Europass form at http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/)
• A personally signed Letter of Motivation (two pages maximum) with the current date (with reference to present occupation and choice of postgraduate program(s).
IMPORTANT: If you are applying for more than one postgraduate course (maximum three), you must submit a single motivation letter stating why you are applying for these specific courses and why you choose that priority.
A letter of recommendation from your current employer; the letter must be on letterhead, include a signature, and be current in date (not in a sealed envelope)
• Certificate(s) of Employment from the employer(s) demonstrating a minimum of two years of relevant working experience (after a bachelor’s degree) at the time of application, as well as, if feasible, a promise of re-employment from your current employer when you return home.
The following is the procedure for applying for a DAAD scholarship:
1 Select a course that is relevant to your interests. (A maximum of three courses can be applied for.)
2 Submit applications to universities that offer those courses.
3 You send your complete application(s) (together with the required documentation) to the universities directly.
4 A selection committee makes recommendations for DAAD scholarship candidates.
5 The DAAD will contact the suggested applicants to request that they upload their complete application to the DAAD Portal. (DAAD will send you an email with a link to the DAAD Portal.)
6 The selection process will be completed, and the recommended candidates will be notified.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a copy of each application document on hand, as these documents (as PDF files) must be uploaded to the DAAD Portal if you are recommended for a DAAD scholarship!
