Myanmar’s oldest and most prestigious higher education institution is Yangon University. Its origins may be traced back to the year 1878. The institution had 15,000 full-time students in the 2018-2019 academic year. They attend classes in two main campuses: Yangon’s Main Campus, which is located on the southwestern shore of Inya Lake, and the Hlaing Campus, which is located north of Yangon’s Main Campus.

Mandalay Institution, located in Mandalay, Myanmar, is a public university.
