1a
electrolysis, process by which electric current is passed through a substance to effect a chemical change. The chemical change is one in which the substance loses or gains an electron (oxidation or reduction).

(1ai)
Electrolysis is the process by which ionic substances are decomposed (broken down) into simpler substances when an electric current is passed through them.

(1b)Rate of Chemical Reaction is the speed at which a chemical reaction proceeds. It is often expressed in terms of either the concentration (amount per unit volume) of a product that is formed in a unit of time or the concentration of a reactant that is consumed in a unit of time.

5ciii
1.water gas is mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas, producer gas is mixture of nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas.

2. Water gas high calorific value than producer gas.

3. Water gas is used for the synthesis of many compounds like methanol, methane etc where as producer gas is used only as a fuel gas

3b
i. activation energy, in chemistry, the minimum amount of energy that is required to activate atoms or molecules to a condition in which they can undergo chemical transformation or physical transport.

ii.
An ineffective collision (A) is one that does not result in product formation. An effective collision (B) is one in which chemical bonds are broken and a product is formed.

*Two examples of Gaseous fuels*

(i) natural gas
(ii) producer gas

(5a)

(5b)

(5cii)
(i) Natural gas: exists already formed in the earth, and is obtained by boring tube wells, similar to petroleum wells.
(ii) Producer gas: is made by forcing air through a bed of incandescent coal or coke, in specially constructed furnaces.
