The Immigration Journalism Fellowship aims to provide financial support to journalists of all nationalities who work in a range of media (online, print, documentary, photography, and so on) to provide independent, responsible, and difficult migration and integration reporting.
The fellowship was open to experienced journalists from any country with an interest in immigration and integration issues. Journalists with at least three years of professional journalism experience, notable achievements in the field, and the ability to work in both English and French were sought by the French-American Foundation and its international jury (the final work must be published in either language).
Candidates must obtain a commitment from a European or American media source to publish their work before submitting it. Individual journalists could apply, however, teams of up to three journalists were also eligible for a single fellowship to help them finish their assignments. Journalists who work on a freelance basis are encouraged to apply.

Fellows will be awarded up to $10,000 for their work, which will be performed over a 4-6 month period, by the French-American Foundation.
The French American Foundation will place a premium on ground-breaking and innovative content.
Media experts will be considered by the French-American Foundation and its Media Advisory Committee:
• with a minimum of three years of professional journalism experience and outstanding achievements in the field;
• from all nationalities (note that the work produced as part of the fellowship must be published in the United States or Europe);
• with the ability to work in either English or French (the final work must be published in English or French).
