The Microsoft Research Women’s Fellowship funds a select group of academic institutions to provide a US$20,000 fellowship to one woman who is interested in completing a Ph.D. but needs financial assistance.

The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
University of Washington
University of California at Berkeley

Level/Study Subject:

Ph.D. programs in any topic of study are available at the universities that are participating.

Scholarship worth, benefits, and duration:

For the 2022 school year, the scholarship is valued at US$20,000. $18,000 will go toward tuition, and $2,000 will be used to support travel expenses to a conference in the fellowship recipient’s field of study.

The fellowship is only accessible to grantees for one academic year and cannot be extended or renewed.

Eligibility:

Students entering or enrolled in a Ph.D. program at one of the partner universities are eligible for the Microsoft Research Women’s Fellowship.
