Education in Trinidad and Tobago is free, compulsory from the age of five to sixteen, and heavily and principally influenced by the British educational system.

With a literacy rate of 98%, Trinidad and Tobago is regarded as one of the most educated nations in the world. Part of the reason for this remarkably high literacy rate is the availability of free education from pre-kindergarten to university.
