There are 4 universities and 30 academic programs in Saint Lucia’s higher education system. Additionally, there are 24 Bachelor’s degrees offered by 4 universities, 3 Master’s programs offered by 3 universities, and 3 Ph.D. programs offered by 3 universities.

The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, which provides a wide range of courses including 18 associate degrees, one diploma, and 18 certificate degrees in fields like physical sciences, IT, health sciences, and agriculture, is part of St. Lucia’s higher education system.

The College was founded in 1985, and it currently enrolls close to 2000 students, 1500 of them are full-time, with 86 percent of them being female (2011).

Secondary school graduates must have five or more Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) or General Certificate Examination (GCE) certificates in order to enroll in The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.

The regional University of the West Indies, which operates in St. Lucia through the University Centre at Marryshow House in Castries and has main campuses in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Barbados, is shared by St. Lucia.

Both the St. Lucia Spartan Health Science University School of Medicine and the Destiny University School of Medicine and Health Sciences offer medical education. The ratio of male to female students enrolled in tertiary education is 2.57:1. (2010).
