SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 2023

AAHPM Scholarship in the USA for Physicians from Developing Countries

AAHPM Scholarship in the USA for Physicians from Developing Countries

The AAHMP International Physician Scholarship Awards were established to make quality education accessible to physicians from low and middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) who wish to attend and participate in the Annual Assembly.

This scholarship program gives financial assistance (up to $5,000) to scholarship recipients to pay the costs of registration for the Annual Assembly as well as travel-related expenses such as airfare, taxi fare, meals, and housing.

Scholarship recipients will have access to the most up-to-date clinical information and research updates in hospice and palliative care from prominent specialists in the field at the Annual Assembly.

Criteria for Eligibility in 2022

Physicians who practice hospice and palliative medicine and care for very ill patients are eligible for scholarships. According to the World Bank, eligible physicians must live permanently in low- and middle-income countries.

We believe that the scholarship recipients will use what they learned at the Annual Assembly to help improve palliative care in their home countries.

Applicants that meet the following requirements will be considered:

You’ve never been to the Annual Assembly before.
A junior in their career with 2-10 years of primary palliative care experience, including a resident or fellow concentrating on palliative care research, and those whose organizations are considered least able to afford this opportunity.

The Scholarship Program’s Application Process

For the 2021 International Physician Scholarship, there will be no call for applications. We will be relocating the 2020 scholarship awardees to the 2022 conference due to the COVID-19 virus and the cancellation of the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care.

Awardees must submit a written report detailing how their presence at the Annual Assembly benefited their organization.

Furthermore, from December 2022, scholarship recipients will be forced to obtain their own US visas.
